Our Commitment to Carbon Neutrality Reducing Environmental Impact in the Foundry Industry

In the casting industry—known for its high CO₂ emissions—we are actively working to minimize environmental impact by strengthening our efforts toward achieving carbon neutrality.
A major portion of emissions in the casting process—approximately 70% of our total CO₂ output—comes from the use of coke as fuel.
To reduce this, we are proactively introducing new technologies to replace conventional energy sources and improve environmental performance across our operations.

Target

To support our journey toward carbon neutrality, Yoshiwa Kogyo has set the following medium- and long-term goals.

2030年までに、CO2排出量を2013年度比で50%削減します

Reduce CO₂ emissions by 50% by 2030,
compared to fiscal year 2013 levels

2050年までに、カーボンニュートラルを達成します

Achieve full carbon neutrality by 2050

Key Initiatives

01

Introduction of Biofuels

To reduce our reliance on coke, we are transitioning to biofuels in our manufacturing processes. Biofuels are a sustainable energy source that is more environmentally friendly and emit fewer greenhouse gases. We see them as a promising solution for reducing environmental impact in the casting industry.

Improving Energy Efficiency

We aim to enhance energy efficiency across all stages of production. This includes boosting productivity, visualizing energy loss through integrated management of equipment operation data and energy consumption, and introducing energy-saving technologies. These efforts help us reduce fuel usage while maintaining—and even improving—the productivity of our casting processes.

Use of Renewable Energy

We are actively adopting renewable energy sources, such as solar power, to meet the energy needs of our plants and offices. By supplementing our electricity consumption with clean energy, we further reduce our environmental footprint.
